Paul Leggerini joined Patterson Cheney as a new truck salesman in 1999. Over his 25 year career, Paul progressed to roles such as Sales Manager for Trucks, and Group Fleet & Government Manager. Recently, he transitioned back into a sales role and is passionate about mentoring the next generation of consultants. Paul believes in treating every sales role as a “business within a business”, and fostering trust with other salespeople and other people in the industry, particularly in the Isuzu dealer network. “There wouldn’t be a dealership around the country I couldn’t ring and ask for a favour.”
“The principles of selling haven’t changed, but today’s customers are more educated,” he notes. “It is tricky when they have researched the market and walk in thinking they know what they want, and you have to explain that they forgot to take into account the weight of the truck body when calculating the payload, and that they actually need to spend $5k more to get the truck they need.”
On Patterson Cheney – “it’s always been a great place to work, and we’ve had great customers – many returning over the past 25 years. There isn’t one of them where I think “oh jeez I wouldn’t want to bump into them!”
